Choosing the right preschool for your child is a crucial step in their early education journey, and it can often feel overwhelming given the myriad of options available. Start by considering your child’s unique needs and personality. Some children thrive in structured environments, while others may flourish in more relaxed settings. Take the time to visit several preschools, if possible, to observe the classroom dynamics, teacher interactions, and the overall vibe of the school. Look for a nurturing atmosphere where children are encouraged to explore, learn, and develop social skills. Engaging with teachers and asking about their educational approach can also provide valuable insights into how they cater to individual learning styles.
Another important factor to consider is the curriculum and activities offered. A well-rounded preschool should incorporate play-based learning, as it is essential for cognitive and social development. Inquire about how the school fosters creativity, physical activity, and social interactions through various programs. Additionally, consider logistical aspects such as location, hours of operation, and tuition costs, ensuring they align with your family’s needs and budget. Don’t hesitate to reach out to other parents for feedback on their experiences with different preschools, as personal recommendations can often highlight strengths or weaknesses that may not be immediately evident during a visit. Ultimately, trust your instincts and prioritize what feels right for your child—after all, this decision plays a pivotal role in their educational foundation.
Preschool is the first step of a child’s academic journey and serves as the foundation for all future learning. Preschool is where children learn and understand the basic learning, ethics, and values with immense clarity. This will lead to the beginning of the education on the right path. Preschool is where social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development of the child takes place. The skills learned at this stage set up a platform for a lifetime of learning. Preschool essentially teaches a child how to be a student. The child will learn how to take turns while playing, raise hand to ask questions, share food, and learn to co-exist with other students.
Preschool is often regarded as the first critical step in a child’s academic journey, laying the groundwork for all future learning endeavors. During these formative years, children are introduced to fundamental concepts that not only cover the basics of literacy and numeracy but also encompass important social ethics and values. This early education is vital as it fosters a love of learning, encouraging children to explore and understand their environment with curiosity and enthusiasm. At preschool, children learn through play and structured activities, which helps them develop essential skills in a nurturing atmosphere, setting them on the right path toward their academic futures.
In addition to academic fundamentals, preschool plays a significant role in the holistic development of a child—social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth all flourish during this stage. Children gain invaluable experience in interacting with peers, where they learn the dynamics of sharing, taking turns, and collaborating on tasks. These early social interactions are essential; they teach children how to co-exist with others and navigate complex social scenarios. Moreover, preschoolers learn self-regulation skills, such as raising their hands to speak, which not only prepares them for a structured classroom environment but also instills a sense of respect for others. By establishing a solid foundation through preschool, children are equipped with the skills and confidence necessary to embark on a lifetime of learning.
A child learns to be separated and be away from his/her parents. Preschool prepares a child for the future in its own ways. A preschool can set the path for a child’s entire educational journey. Can you imagine a child directly going to school without going to preschool? What would it be like? The child would have tremendous difficulty adjusting to the school and would feel a little lost and lacking because he/she does not have the basic knowledge that is taught in preschool. No parent would want that for their child. At the age that kids go to preschool, children learn things very quickly. The foundation of future learning is laid in preschool. It’s where the child learns all the basics. Choosing the right preschool is of utmost importance as it sets the stage for further education. Mentioned below are tips to keep in mind while choosing a preschool for your child:
Teachers: A teacher can greatly impact a child’s life. It is essential that preschool teachers are nurturing and caring. A good preschool teacher will not just bond with the child but make all efforts to ensure that the child feels safe and comfortable. Often children are shy and feel scared to join other
students or even communicate with them. A good teacher can help a child come out of his shell and help join the other kids. At ‘Shanti Juniors’ our teachers have all the required educational qualifications and regular training is provided them so that their teaching skills are improving and up to date. Children are like clay, but it is the teacher that moulds them to become responsible empathetic individuals.
Environment: A preschool classroom should ideally have child friendly furniture. The classroom should have walls displaying the art work of children so that children feel a sense of belonging. Further, it should also have fun prints on the walls and loaded with books appropriate for children. ‘Shanti Juniors’ gives special importance to child friendly atmosphere. Our classrooms are colourful with art work of students displayed in the class. We have our custom teaching aids, age appropriate toys, child friendly furniture and an outdoor area full of greenery including a sandpit for children to play in.
Safety: The safety of children is crucial. The preschool should have an emergency evacuation plan in place. The school should have a well-stocked first aid box and access to a doctor at all times in case of an emergency. Safety is our prime concern at ‘Shanti Juniors’. We only hand over children to the respective parents or guardians. In case a relative is picking up the child after school, prior written notice is to be given to the school.
Visit: You will be unable to come to a conclusion whether a particular preschool is right for your child or not based on a brochure or browsing the website. You can ask for recommendations from your circle but we strongly advice that you physically visit the preschool. If possible visit during school hours so that you can observe the working of the preschool with the students in action. Observe, ask questions and if needed show the school to your child too.
