“I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, I do and I understand.”

As the above saying goes, it is the experiential learning that leaves a life time impact on children. Hence, Field Trips become an important part of preschool education. This experience goes beyond reading about a concept as the children are able to see it, manipulate it or do it practically

Field Trips are essential to bridge the gap between knowledge in books and the real world. They remain a vital requirement of preschool curriculum as the field trips at times are integrated to the classroom themes and concepts. Such visits give children the opportunity to experience the real and also teach them social behavior. It fosters a sense of teamwork and community among the children as they experience a field trip together with peers and teachers.

They also provide entertainment and develop interest towards learning serving as a powerful motivator for children.Field trips also require impeccable planning and coordination with teachers, transporters and outside resources for a hassle free trip and children’s safety. All the necessary materials and details regarding transport, first aid, food, prior permissions, etc should be carried during the field trip. The preschool authority is also required to take formal permission of the parents prior to the visit.

Field trips take the book learning from the classroom and further extend it to life. Children often question the importance of topics they study in class and they get their answers through field trips. There are plenty of opportunities to incorporate the field trip experience back into classroom activities after returning to preschool.

Through presentations, real objects and question answer sessions, the children can instill the knowledge gathered on the field trip in their day to day life.
